Facility Gifts As I watch the highlights of our early victories over Nebraska, Ohio State and Notre Dame, I'm reminded that our players were not as big or strong as our opponents back then, and our athletic program wasn’t either. "We won because our players worked so hard to prepare, and because each—not just the great players—gave their best effort when it counted the most." Thanks to a lot of hard work, and the generous contributions of Seminole Boosters, we have been able to build some new facilities, notably the magnificent University Center Complex. Our fans now have a beautiful and comfortable stadium to watch games. There’s a state-of-the art press box for the media, and our faculty and students have a half of a million square feet of classroom and office space. But, we still have so much more to do to improve the facilities the fans don’t see, where our student-athletes in all sports spend their days working hard to improve themselves." "In addition to improving facilities, we need to increase our scholarship endowment, so that Florida State can always provide the maximum number of scholarship opportunities for the men and women we all take pride in." "Before I take my team onto the field for a big game, I’ll pull my team together and ask them to make themselves this promise: 'You cannot promise me victory, so I won’t ask it of you. What I will ask each and everyone of you—not just the star players—is to promise me that when the game is over, you will be able to look yourself in the mirror and know that you gave your very best effort. If each of us can promise that, everything else will take care of itself.'" The Legacy Campaign is vital to Florida State’s future. It is THE big game and all of us are on the team together.
